Kristy Jones Transforms
My mission is to support others in overcoming adversity and moving forward with purpose on purpose. This mission is fueled by my personal experiences of overcoming the adversity that comes with being a teenage single mother growing into adulthood. Thankfully, I did not have to navigate the adversity alone. I had a village of support, which enabled me to accomplish my goals and create the conditions for my daughter to graduate from college and become a self-sufficient, thriving adult, like her mother.
However, when my daughter went to college, I entered into unfamiliar territory. Some called it empty nest syndrome, but this experience was different. It was a spiritual transformation! This had nothing to do with religion. It was like what happens inside the cocoon, when the caterpillar goes through the process of becoming a butterfly. I wrote about this experience in the book collaboration, Positioned to Prosper: A Collaboration to Encourage Bold Moves edited by Timeko Whitaker (2017).

This experience led me to Authentic Identity Coaching, LLC, where I became a Certified Life Coach and Human Behavior Consultant. After receiving my certification, I established Kristy Jones Transformation Consulting, where I provide consultation and coaching services to individuals as they navigate the transformation process. Educational Transformation

Education is my passion! I have over 20 years of experience as a transformational educator spanning grades K through 12 and post-secondary education. I have served in various capacities, including Math Teacher (9-12), Dean (6-8), District Math Coach (6-12), Assistant Principal (K-6), Founding Principal (K-2), and Teacher Educator.
As a turnaround school leader, I created and implemented a strategic plan that resulted in high growth on the state test for all students and NWEA student growth on average of 200+ percent, transformed the school climate and culture increasing parent and community engagement reducing suspension rates by 31%, and increased the state letter grade by two grades. As a founding school leader, I was intentional about creating an educational space that awakened the minds of students and liberated them through learning! Currently, I am a Teaching & Learning, Ph.D. student concentrating on Teaching and Teacher Education at Georgia State University, where I also supervise and coach student teachers. My research interests are Black education, Black consciousness development, consciousness transformation, and teacher preparation.
Kristy Jones Transformation Consulting provides educational consulting and coaching services to learning institutions in need of transformation or in the founding stages. As an experienced turnaround and founding school leader, I know firsthand what is required to transform and/or establish the conditions for a positive learning environment where students, their families, and staff thrive. My passion for education combined with my personal and professional experiences led to the establishment of Spirit of the Village, Incorporated (SOTV), a 501©3 nonprofit organization where I am the founder and executive director.
SOTV is determined to be locally and nationally recognized, through its outstanding programs and creative collaborations, as a vital supportive place and indispensable educational resource for the community(ies) it seeks to serve. Our vision is to restore the “Spirit of the Village", cultivating communities that embody unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
SOTV seeks to strengthen and support families and communities through community partnership & involvement, parent empowerment, educational development, and youth engagement. Children who have strong support systems are most likely to thrive in school and life, contributing to the growth and development of thriving families and communities. Therefore, our work aims to support the growth and development of the adults in a child's support system and their communities.
